Diy Plate Rack and Dining Area Makeover

In this article, we share with you a project that we have wanted for a long time ago, since we live in a small apartment it is difficult for us to be able to accommodate a hutch to put plates and seasonal decorations so we think that this would be the perfect replacement because it doesn’t need a lot of space to have the decorations we really love.

To begin, we first decided to change the white color of the wall to a tone that is not too dark but that is not boring either, so we opted for the “warm ashes” color of the Colorplace brand. This tone goes perfectly with the environment we want to create since this wall is the first one seen when entering through the main door.

We also decided to touch up the white details of the wall moldings as they had many stains and it looks much cleaner. Then we proceeded to build our “Plate Rack” using 1″ x 4″ x 8′ wooden boards to create the edges and each one of the slats in which we left a 9″ spaces between each one with the exception of the top that we left 12″ to accommodate larger accessories, we also use 1/2″ dowels between each slat to give support and protection to the decorative items we place.

To give it a different touch and make it even stronger, we decided to put a 1/8″ wooden panel on the back and even a more robust design in the lower part of the piece, we also painted it with an ash wood color tone that gives it A rustic touch.

Once the piece is finished we proceed to mount it on the wall and decorate it with pieces that we get in “thrift stores” and DIY pieces created by Jaz on her YouTube channel “DIY Home & Crafts”. Belo we leave a lonk of the plan and the video tutorial for this project. Thanks!
